Ground Group

This site on Isole D’Elba is an abandoned Iron mining washery, For decades it has had another life as a scrap yard, a home for someone squatting, a beach, hangout spot, and place to explore and collect. The site is full of clues to its use and its disuse, the stories overlap, disappear, decay and are written over. Our semester project was adding to the story. We added a brick oven, to keep warm, a tiled surface to have safe space to rest in the shade, and a storage system to allow people to display their finds.
