Syracuse Commons

This site for a public commons in downtown Syracuse is at the junction of community spaces and the business sector. My design accommodates these two users, creating seating and garden spaces, as well as maintaining the pedestrian thoroughfare through the site. The design concept consists of horizontal beams that suggest unique spaces beneath, and creates visual resistance overhead, prompting them to slow down, and guides them into community spaces.
